1st Prize -THE INCREDIBLE MR. E!
$500 Cash and their sponsor’s wish list wish List of goods
Our Grand Prize Winner(s) for the fall C4C grant selection are Annie and Tommy Ingham of Laurel Mt. Elem. School of Austin, TX who created
” The Incredible Mr. E!”. This is a short film based on a teacher and mentor (the “superhero”) who encouraged the kids of Laurel Mt. Elementary to clean up a wooded park area behind the school. Annie and Tommy beautifully document the progression of a littered, overrun environment that becomes a sanctuary for endangered wildlife! Complete with walking paths, ponds and bat/bird houses, and the blessing of the state of Texas, this video shares how kids taking action can make major changes in their world.
winner: Annie and Tommy Ingham
sponsor: Laurel Mountain Elementary’s 5th Grade Class, Austin TX
Runner up – NICK G: SUPERHERO!
$250 Cash and their sponsor’s wish list of $100
The C4C Runner-Up was Nick Girard, who submitted his comical kid vid all the way from Folsom Middle School in Folsom, CA! Nick becomes a superhero
and combats trash by educating the viewer with comedy and drama.
winner: Nick Girard
sponsor: Folsom Middle School, Folsom CA
The Audience Favorite – ENVIROMAN!
$250 Best Buy gift certificate for student and sponsor
Last, but not least!, we have the Audience Favorite submitted by Johnny Bender of Connally High School, near Pflugerville, TX. Our first claymation submission, the main character is seen watching the news on t.v., and encounters some confusion about the difference between “trash” and “recycling” until Enviroman! shows up to teach the difference.
Very clever and well executed, the judges thought Johnny did a super job!
winner: Johnny Bender
sponsor: Connally High School, Austin TX
Thanks to EVERYONE who submitted entries! We had comic books, giant 3-D puppets, lots of videos, and songs submitted. We enjoyed looking at ALL the submissions! It’s always tough deciding on the winners, but we think you’ll enjoy these three!
